Meet Our Trainers

Head Trainer/Owner
Sara Stonebraker

A dedicated and accomplished equine trainer with over 15 years of experience in the equine industry; Sara specializes in driving, riding, and in-hand performance. She works with a wide range of equine breeds, with particular expertise in Miniature Horses and Shetland Ponies. Known for her patient approach, focusing on building a strong foundation and addressing the needs of each individual horse and owner, she brings out the best in both.

Sara's passion for horses began early, growing up in the show ring with American Saddlebreds. She spent 10 formative years as a youth exhibitor, building a strong foundation in horsemanship, showmanship, and performance. That early experience inspired her to pursue higher education in the field, earning a Bachelor's degree in Equine Science, with a concentration in Business.

Over the years, Sara has developed a reputation for preparing horses for top-level competition, particularly in performance and driving disciplines. Her ability to train horses across various breeds, sizes, and temperaments reflects both her technical knowledge and her intuitive connection with animals.

Assistant Trainer
Anna Bankes

Anna is a dedicated assistant trainer at Freedom Reins Equestrian Center, with over 10 years of hands-on horse experience. She has a special passion for obstacle and in-hand training, particularly with Miniature Horses and Shetlands, where her patience, creativity, and deep understanding of equine behavior truly shine.

Anna is also an experienced rider and driver, working with horses of all sizes to build confidence, trust, and solid foundational skills. Her calm, encouraging approach makes her a favorite among both horses and clients alike.

Outside the barn, Anna is a proud Harry Potter fan, and she brings that same sense of wonder and dedication into everything she does—whether she’s teaching a horse to navigate a tricky obstacle or sharing her knowledge with fellow equestrians. She also enjoys painting, and spending quality time with her fiancé and their beloved cats. Her warmth, dedication, and attention to detail make her an invaluable part of the Freedom Reins team.
